Archon App: Troubleshooting

This article will go through some of the most common Archon App troubleshooting steps, common issues, and how to solve them or seek more specific help.

If you are asking for any help with the Archon App, please include the following info:

  • What specifically isn't working? Screenshots to show what you mean are incredibly helpful.
  • Include a screenshot of relevant settings
  • Add your Main.log file(s), which can be found in Settings -> Support in the app.
  • If there are any issues with encounters being detected, etc, adding your Combat Log file is also useful.

Known Issues

These are some of the issues we are aware of and working on to fix.

  • start-replay-buffer: This might be because of programs such as RivaTuner. Try adding the Archon App to RivaTuner's Application profile properties, then set Application detection level: None
  • OneDrive and other cloud sync apps lock permissions, preventing users from recording with an operation not permitted error
  • Ultrawide errors: Try using the Software encoding option. This is a limitation of the obs library, and hardware encoders cannot support capturing higher than 4k.
  • Audio stops working: This is usually with Bluetooth devices where Windows will assign a new slot for the device after reboot. Try deleting and reselecting your device in the app to fix.

Please note that several third-party apps can interfere with OBS (which we use for videos). Find known conflicts here.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Did you have combat logging enabled in-game?
  • Try disabling and re-enabling Recording
  • If Preview Video is not working, try a Test Video. Sometimes Preview does not work, but if Test Video works, you should be good to go.
  • Try picking a different output folder

Common Issues / FAQ

  • No video was recorded during my Raid/M+

Did you have combat logging enabled? Video requires Advanced Combat Logging enabled and combat logging turned on in-game. This requires either doing the /combatlog command or using an addon such as SimpleCombatLogger to enable logging for you.

  • Permission Issues

The app doesn't have permissions to write to the selected folder (this can especially be a problem if your save folder is a cloud drive folder like OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox etc.)

Solution: Try a different folder and see if that fixes the issue.

  • Encounter Detection

Encounters are detected properly, but it's not recording.

Try disabling and re-enabling Recording.

Common Issues / FAQ

  • Hotkeys aren't working

Note: Hotkeys will only work while the game is in focus.

Try registering a different hotkey to check if your specific combo is invalid (this shouldn't be the case, but let us know if it is)

  • Group Applicants doesn't work

The event might be down; check the Event Status here. This generally happens whenever a new patch goes live.

Troubleshooting/FAQ

  • Not seeing anything in-game?

If you right click someone, including yourself, do you have the Copy WCL URL option?

If not: under Escape -> Game Menu -> Addons, are there 2 entries for ArchonTooltip and ArchonTooltip DB?

It's either:

A) You logged in too fast, and the addon didn't finish installing yet. Try a /reload; if that doesn't help, try a relog.

B) You have multiple WoW installs. The Addon tab in the uploader shows you where it's being installed. Adjust the path accordingly, wait for the install, and then relog.

  • Still not seeing anything!

Make sure the character you're interacting with has relevant progress: nothing is shown until the character has at least some heroic progress before the last data regeneration as per the parse gates.

Note: For Fresh, the addon is OPT IN for parses. This means you'll only see Progress for characters that have not opted in to show their parses.

  • Login message says server data missing

Please post a screenshot (Either on Discord or to our [email protected]) so we can confirm whether you're on a missing server or if something else is going on. There's a good chance you were too fast logging in, try a /reload first!

  • LUA or visual errors
