Subcreation Passes the Torch

Subcreation Statement

Alcaras, the creator and maintainer of Subcreation, has decided to sunset the project.

Read his statement below.

Subcreation has been acquired by Warcraft Logs and Archon.gg!

What does this mean?

  • Subcreation will redirect to Archon.gg, Warcraft Logs’ site for learning what’s best to play and how best to play it in World of Warcraft.
  • Archon.gg has incorporated the Subcreation algorithm into their Tier Lists, as well as adding a new focus on the top end of raiders and M+ to their Top Builds.

At the beginning of this year, the platform that I used to build Subcreation required a large upgrade. It would have caused me to rewrite the site completely. At the same time, I saw that Archon had released their product and I thought it was really good. I reached out to them about potentially handing the Subcreation project over to them and they were interested in taking it on.

They took me on for a consulting role, and we put our heads together and made the Archon.gg product even better. Archon.gg has incorporated the Subcreation algorithm into their Tier Lists, as well as adding a new focus on the top end of raiders and M+ to their Top Builds.

As many of you know, Subcreation has been powered by the Warcraft Logs API all this time, so this is something of a homecoming for the site – it’s exciting to see it’ll be part of Warcraft Logs going forward, and kept refreshed, updated, and improved for many patches and expansions to come. Starting now, Subcreation will redirect to Archon.gg, Warcraft Logs’ site for learning what’s best to play and how best to play it in World of Warcraft. Thank you to all those that have supported Subcreation and all those that have used it. It has been my pleasure to build and support this product for the WoW community!

New And Improved Features

With the help of Alcaras, we've worked on improving the Archon.gg tools to be the best of both worlds. Subcreation has historically been a great tool for providing data for the community, and we're committed to continuing this effort. With that, we've made some recent improvements!

Mythic+ Improvements

Affix options are now "This Week" and "Last Week". The default view no longer combines weeks.

A new "Levels" option has been added to allow users to view keys 25 and above. This dynamic threshold looks at the top 5% of keys done, so it will increase as the season progresses.

We've adapted and added the "Dungeon Ease" tier list from Subcreation. Browse through the Mythic+ Tier Lists on Archon.

Mythic+ tier lists now display Mythic+ Score as the label, instead of DPS/HPS.

Raid Improvements

Raid Meta Builds pages (not tier lists) now look at the top 50% (ranked by DPS/HPS) of parses that match the filters. A minimum of 1,000 for an individual boss is set to ensure the sample is still statistically significant.
