Archon App: Help & FAQ
Quick Links
We've just released the Archon App in Open Beta, and this article will explain all the various new (and old) features of the App. Thanks for joining the beta!
If you have any questions or feedback, please join us on Discord or send an email to [email protected].
Core Settings of the Archon App
Game Selector
The Archon App has multi-game support. This means you just need one app to upload for all the games you play. Playing WoW after an FFXIV raid session? No problem! Just swap the game at the top left drop-down menu, and you'll be good to go!
You can also Pin a game by right-clicking it so it's always at the start of your bar. Pin your favourites for easy access. All it takes is a right click! You can pin and unpin it with the same button.
Keep in mind that since our games have different websites, you may need to log in with your respective site's credentials when you first switch to a game.
Window Presence
Users who use our Companion app are more familiar with this setting in particular. With the Archon App, you can select several different behaviours for specific parts of the app!
Main Window
You have three options here for the main window of the application, they are as such:
Desktop Mode: Pretty straightforward, the app's window will remain separate, so you need to select it to make it display. Preferred to use if you have several monitors, or don't want it to display at all times on your screen.
Always On Top: It takes priority over any application you may have open and will always display. So it can "Overlay" itself on top of the client. If you have only one monitor, this can be very handy as it doesn't require you to tab out.
In-game: Similar to the Companion App's behaviour, it will display when you're tabbed into the game. It lets you show and hide the app while in-game, which can be very nice if you don't want to constantly tab out and want to quickly check something on the app.
Group Applicant Overlay
Just two settings for this one, same behaviour as the ones above. This is available for World of Warcraft.
Always on top: It takes priority over any application you may have open and will always display. Ie: It'll appear over the WoW window when someone applies to your group.
In-game: Similar to the companion app's behaviour, it will display when you're tabbed into the game. Preferred to use if you don't want to constantly tab out to check applicants while hosting a group!
Meter Overlay
Same settings as the group applicant overlay, this feature is available on Final Fantasy XIV and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Always On Top: It takes priority over any application you may have open and will always display.
In-game: Similar to the companion app's behaviour, it will display when you're tabbed into the game. And can be used as an overlay if you don't want it open elsewhere.
Auto-Archive/Delete
We've also added settings to automatically archive or delete logs recorded. You can find them under the Automatic Combat Log Archive and Deletion section:
Automatically Archive Combat Logs
If toggled, this will automatically archive any logs that haven't been modified for more than three days.
Automatically Delete Archived Combat Logs
This is a drop-down menu that lets you select a range of days to delete logs that have been archived.
Manual Combat Log Actions
And of course, if you don't want to automate anything, we also added two buttons to quickly Archive Logs, or Delete All Archived Logs.
Make sure to check your log folder size once in a while, as it quickly adds up!
Applicants Overlay
You can also toggle an option that, if checked, automatically opens the group applicants window whenever a new player applies to your group. This currently only works on World of Warcraft.
How to Start Logging
Live Logging
Much like our other applications, the live logging tab will upload logs in real time as the file is written. Make sure to select the correct folder, as you need to select the folder that the files are being written to.
When browsing the folder, keep in mind that, as it is a folder selection, it will not display any files.
You can select where the file is uploaded to, which usually means to a guild/raid team or static, or to your own personal logs page.
There is also the region drop-down, where you should double-check that and what visibility you want the log to have.
- Public: Only public logs rank, and they are viewable by anyone.
- Unlisted: Only viewable via direct link to the report.
- Private: Only viewable by you (if personal log), or your guild (if guild log)
You can now click the button "Go!" to start the process. Keep in mind, you still need to be writing the file (by playing the game) for this to do anything.
Make sure you've read our Getting Started guide on how to log for the various games.
If needed, you can also write a custom report name to keep track of different groups you may run with!
There are also options here for live logging specifically:
For the "Include the Entire File in the Report" option, this will upload the entire current log file. This is used for when you forget to start a live log until you've already started your raid or activity.
For Enable Real-Time Uploading, this uploads as soon as the file is written to. This can be used to analyze in-progress fights for e.g. an analyst on the outside. The option does not work for WoW any longer as the combat log is delayed a few minutes after ending combat in-game.
Upload a Log
Much like the Live Log tab, you need to properly set up your combat logging in respective games before trying to upload a log. Once that is set up, you should be able to upload files after they are recorded, and it should default to the correct folder where files are written.
If you changed where your log files are written to, it will remember that setting once you upload a file from said folder.
The Select Specific Fights To Upload option is very handy when looking to analyze just a few encounters from a large log file, so you don't need to upload unnecessary encounters that you do not wish to.
Split a Log
This is for large log files; you can split them so they're smaller in size and therefore easier to upload. Very similar to the "Upload Specific Fights" option from uploading a log tab.
