HoF/ToES Parsing Rules
This article goes through the various rules, banned items, and the adds excluded from bosses in Heart of Fear and Terrace of the Endless Spring on Warcraft Logs rankings.
If you have any suggestions or questions, please join us on Discord to discuss.
Rules vs No Rules
We are adding a new metric to experiment in Mists of Pandaria. We'll have Damage and Damage (No Rules).
The No Rules metric will still have some restrictions, this is mainly the Unholy Frenzy self-cast only, trash is still excluded from bosses, etc. This is a dropdown option on your character page (our goal is to let you set this to default if you wish, but work in progress).
The goal with a No Rules metric is for players who don't want rules as an option. We're trying this as an experimental thing, so the first version might lack some UI elements and quality of life things we might improve on in the future.
The default metric for now will be Damage (includes Rules).
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Boss Changes
Please note all of these rules might not be implemented yet, and you should keep up to date on our Discord with the current state of adding changes, planned rules, and more.
Damage done to adds that don't die is removed.
No rules.
Garalon is removed from Damage All Star Points.
Damage done to adds that don't die is removed.
Amber-Shaper is removed from All Star Points (both Damage and Healing).
Damage done to Kor'thik Reavers and Set'thik Windblades is removed.
Damage done to bosses that heal to full is removed.
Damage gained from Corrupted Essence is normalized.
Only Hardmode/Elite order ranks as Heroic. This means Protector Kaolan has to die last.
Damage done to The Dark of Night, Fright Spawn, and Embodied Terrors is removed.
Damage done to Animated Protectors is removed.
No rules, but this is likely an ASP removal in the future.
Complete Raid
Complete Raid on Warcraft Logs means doing the full raid in one go. This has a clear starting point and end point.
Doing a Complete Raid rewards you with Complete Raid parses. This includes Speed parses for Guilds and Boss Fight DPS parses for personal parses.
Boss Fight DPS
This is the parse for all boss encounter DPS combined, only counting kills. This requires you to do the full raid in one raid day.
Boss and Trash DPS
This is the DPS parse for all boss + trash encounters combined, counting everything. This requires you to do the full raid in one raid day. Everything (unless explicitly said so above) is included for overall boss/trash, even excluded adds, and downtime is not factored in.
Buffs
Unholy Frenzy
Unholy Frenzy is limited to ONLY self-casts.
Any parses that break these restrictions will not be ranked.
Tricks of the Trade
Tricks of the Trade is still attributed to an NPC, as we did in WotLK.
Stormlash Totem
Stormlash damage is also attributed to an NPC.
Skull Banner
Damage gained from Skull Banner is also attributed to an NPC.
World Buffs
A majority of world buffs, such as:
- Arcane Focus
- Zeal
- Might of Malygos
- Fury of Ragnaros
- Flame of the Seer
- Arcane Might
- Dark Whispers
- Blessing of Blackfathom
- Soul Revival
- Bloodgem Infusion
and more are banned.
Battle Squawk / Battle Chicken
Battle Squawk from Battle Chicken is banned. This buff will invalidate your boss parse and complete raid parse.
Fishliver Oil, Light of Elune, and More
We will be stricter on one-time use items such as Fishliver Oil and other quest items. These items are banned for parsing, but they are fine to use for progress guild ranks.
Life Tap
Excessively using Life Tap to pad healing parses will invalidate your kill.
