New Archon App: Open Beta Release

The Archon team has something very exciting to share! We've been working hard on this for a long time now...

Introducing… our new Archon App!

While you may have seen an early version of this new app if you played Fellowship (or if you were a part of our Alchemist-only sneak peek!), we're now ready to release an open beta!

What is the Archon App?

Our vision for the Archon App is to provide a fresh, crisp, shiny new app which can be used across all of our supported games! The Archon App combines the features of the existing Uploader and Companion apps while also bringing even more— some inspired by features and content that exist today on Archon.gg. Users will always be in control of what in-game integrations are enabled (if any), and can set their overlay preferences, supporting both the "always on top desktop"-style overlay from the Uploader, and the "true in-game"-style overlay from the Companion.

We're aiming to provide unique and useful insights without too much overwhelming information. As such, we've built new report and character pages that focus on the important key information. These new report pages will include helpful data that cannot be seen elsewhere, but don't have all of the precise filtering available on the log sites. We're designing specifically for the app viewport, instead of cramming the existing web pages inside the app (like the Companion does) to give a consistent look & feel with a focus on ease-of-use.

There are so many features planned for this app! We're excited to share them with you as we progress. Read on to learn about some of the features we've already prepped for this beta, and try them out yourself!

Game Selector

The Archon app includes every game we support! This means you no longer need to have several applications installed if you play different games. Playing WoW after an FFXIV raid session? No problem! The app can automatically swap to your selected game when you launch it.

Window Presence

The Archon App allows you to select window display behavior for several specific parts of the app. You'll find three different display behaviors here.

• Desktop mode: The app's window will remain separate, so you need to select it to make it display. Preferrable to use if you have several monitors, or don't want it to display at all times on your screen.

• Always on top: The app takes priority over any application you may have open and will always display, so it can "Overlay" itself on top of the client. If you have only one monitor this can be very handy, as it doesn't require you to tab out.

• In-game: Similar to the companion app's behavior, it will display when you're tabbed into the game. This option allows you show and hide the app while in-game, which can be very nice if you don't want to constantly tab out and want to quickly check something on the app!

Archon Reports

This revamped report view is designed to be sleek and easily digestible. You'll find many similar functions that you are used to here (damage and healing breakdowns, phase support, deaths, etc), but also some new ones! You may have had a peek at some of these features on Archon already, and we hope you'll enjoy the insights they provide here, all within your application window.

New Filters

Within the raid summary view, you can find premade filters for damage to bosses, to adds, healing done, and more. Sometimes, you'll even find unique encounter or character specific filters to help you with quick analysis.

Cooldowns

Easily view the major cooldowns you and your allies used throughout the encounter, all on a tidy timeline. Use the "Show Filters" option to toggle displayed abilities on and off.

Characters

Character pages have a fresh new look in the Archon App. Profiles have a summary of the content that character has completed and how they performed. Get a quick view of their gear and specializations. Use the tabs along the top to dive deeper.

Progress Information

See a quick view of how far along in content a player is, and when they achieved that progress, using the new Progress feature found on a character page!

Recents

Recent allies from your logs appear in the character dashboard for easy viewing, while recently checked character profiles will appear at the top of the app. Right click one of these characters to pin them (including your own)!

Group Finder

You may recognize this feature from our Companion app. The group finder function allows you to easily look up allies while forming a group. Check out their profiles to see if they are a good fit!
